Do you know that Priceline car rental deals can often yield the biggest discounts on car rentals?  Priceline offers name brand cars ( Alamo, Avis, Budget, Hertz, and National) at discounts and the name your own price feature is an amazing way to save the most money.

So how do you go about getting the best deals?

First go here to see recent winning car bids from the city you are interested in.

It will give you an idea of where to start. But you can always start lower.

We’re finding the best deals on car rentals to include rentals of 5 days or more.  Car rentals go in 24 hour increments – so you will pay for a full day even if your last day is just a few hours. Weekend rentals can also give you the best deals and they may start as early as noon on Thursday.

So how does the name your own price work?

Click here. Then you enter in your airport,  dates and time, then enter the price you want to pay. Priceline then asks you for your name, address and credit card. When you submit a bid, it is a binding contract and if your bid is accepted, they charge your card immediately.  This also means you can’t get a refund if you change your mind  or change the dates – so keep that in mind.

Tips:

  •  Start your bid at least 20% lower than the best prices you’re seeing anywhere else.
  • You normally will get one free rebid if your bid is not accepted.
  • If you didn’t score on the free rebid, you must wait at least 24 hours to rebid or you have to change dates and/or the airport to rebid immediately.
  • Priceline name your own price can take time, but in exchange, you may score a great deal.

Your Car Rental Confirmation

  • If your bid is accepted, be sure and bring your winning bid confirmation with you when you checkin.
  • Keep in mind that you may still have to pay for insurance or taxes at checkin.
  • Your car will include unlimited miles when renting in the United States.
  • Be sure to look over your car before you leave and write down any notable damage before you drive your car from the lot.
